Can’t find the SVG file?
Short answer
It’s there. Depending on your computer settings, an SVG can show a web browser icon (Chrome, Edge or Safari), be labeled as an HTML document, or hide the .svg at the end of its name. Import it from inside your cutting software and it loads with cut lines.
Why it looks different
Windows and Mac assign SVG files to your web browser, because browsers can display them. So the SVG may show a Chrome, Edge or Safari icon, and the Type column may say something like Microsoft Edge HTML Document. The file is still the SVG.
How to spot it
- In the unzipped folder, the file with a browser icon and the design’s name is the SVG.
- The DXF and EPS files have the same name with a different icon.
- To see the endings, turn on file extensions: in Windows File Explorer, choose View, then Show, then File name extensions. On a Mac, open Finder settings, then Advanced, and check Show all filename extensions.
On a phone or tablet
On an iPhone or iPad, the Files app may hide the .svg ending. Press and hold a file and tap Get Info to see what kind of file it is. On Android, the Files app shows the full name, so look for the one that ends in .svg. Tapping the SVG in Files only shows a preview. Open it from inside the Design Space or Silhouette Go app instead.
Open it from your cutting software
Double-clicking an SVG opens it in the browser, which doesn’t help. Bring it in from inside Design Space, Silhouette Studio or your laser software instead. Cricut Design Space steps · Silhouette Studio steps
