How to upload an SVG to Cricut Design Space

Short answer

Unzip the download first. In Design Space, start a new project, click Upload, then Upload Image, and choose the SVG file from the unzipped folder. Select it in your uploads and click Add to Canvas.

The numbered steps are for a Windows or Mac computer. Steps for iPhone, iPad and Android are further down.

Unzip the download

Design Space can’t open a ZIP file. On Windows, right-click the ZIP and choose Extract All. On a Mac, double-click it. You’ll get a folder with the SVG, DXF, EPS and PNG files inside. Unzipping on a phone or tablet

Start a new project and click Upload

Open Design Space, choose New Project, and click Upload in the panel on the left side of the canvas.

Choose the SVG file

Click Upload Image, then Browse. Open the folder you unzipped and pick the file that ends in .svg. Click Continue, give the design a name, then click Upload.

On many Windows computers the SVG shows a Chrome or Edge icon and is listed as a browser file. That’s still the right file. Can’t find the SVG?

Add it to your canvas

The design appears in your recent uploads. Click it, then click Add to Canvas. Set the size you want before you cut.

On an iPhone or iPad

Unzip the download in the Files app first: tap the ZIP and a folder appears next to it. Then open the Design Space app, start a new project and tap Upload in the bottom toolbar. Choose Browse Files, open the unzipped folder and tap the SVG. Give it a name, tap Upload in the top right corner, then add it to your canvas.

On an Android phone or tablet

Unzip the download in your Files app first: tap the ZIP and choose Extract. Then open the Design Space app, start a new project and tap Upload in the bottom toolbar. Choose Select from Photo Library, find the SVG in the unzipped folder and tap it. Give it a name, tap Upload in the top right corner, then add it to your canvas.

Uploading the PNG instead

Use the PNG only for Print Then Cut. Design Space treats a PNG as a flat picture, so it has no separate cut lines for the letters or shapes.
